The Vacation starts today!

I’m officially on vacation. What does that mean? Cleaning, watching DVDs and heading to Mount Rushmore.

Mount Rushmore

Quick thoughts

Just got off a good 11.5 hour day at work where I met a state Judge, saw an amazing parade and put a few miles on the car. Before I head to bed early (probably around 8 p.m. as I have an early morning tomorrow) I have a few things I’ve been thinking about that I wanted to put out there.

  • In one year, it will have been 10 years since I graduated high school.
  • I have lived in Marshall, 9 years. That is longer than I’ve lived any other single place (by 4 years) in my life. It’s home.
  • Limbeck rocks! So does Death Cab.

That’s all. As of noon(ish) tomorrow I’ll be on vacation for the rest of the week. Yup, I’m finally taking some time off.

PS – Alex, when are you going to start to blog? (Sorry, that’s two times today, but I’ll keep to one tomorrow).

Weekend wrap-up Sept. 1 – Sept. 2

Saturday: After a long Friday that I talked about earlier, I slept in a little bit Saturday morning. When I was younger sleeping in meant some time around noon, but now that I’m an adult I was up by 8 a.m.

I spent most of the morning catching up on some TiVo recorded throughout the week, including an episode of House I missed from last season. The episode cleared up a lot of the stuff for me that I’d wondered about the show most of the season. Bring on the new season.

I head into do some stuff at work for a little while to get thing ready for a long day Monday.

My surround sound system died last week, but since the speakers were still working and I’ll eventually buy a whole new system, I sold the speakers to Derek. He got them working on his inexpensive system and they sound really good on it. Watched the Death Cab for Cutie DVD “Directions.” He later lent it to me so I could watch a few more of the videos I missed at his place.

Part of the afternoon is spent chatting with friends, catching up on things and doing some basic blog posts.

Most of the rest of the day was filled with episodes of Grey’s Anatomy season 2 so I can catch up before the new season is out on DVD.

Sunday: Woke up around 7:30 a.m. feeling a migraine coming on. Sets up the rest of the day to be a bit stressful and tiering. I took some of my medication and it helped keep things under control for the most part.

Watched a little more Grey’s Anatomy, now halfway through the season after a few weeks of watching.

Went into work for a little more catch up, going on vacation later in the week means a lot of loose ends needing tied.

Finally made it out to the Minneota Golf Club with Alex for a nine hole round. It’s been a while since I’ve been out to the course and with a migraine barely under control I wondered if golfing was such a great idea. After shanking the first tee off, it looked bad. While the round wasn’t horrible, it wasn’t great either. Shot a 79 with a lot of double digit numbers on the score card.

My migraine starts to pop in again around the 7th hole and oddly enough that’s when my game started to turn on. On the 8th hole I was close to making par but missed the cup on a putt by less than an inch. It would take two more puts to put it in.

It’s a little after 8 p.m. as I write this and I have Family Guy recording on TiVo in the background. I think I’m going to go to bed early while watching more Grey’s Anatomy.

Hope all is well in your world, see you Tuesday (Monday marks a long work day while the rest of you enjoy your day off. Keep me in your thoughts).

Jealousy Rides with Me

September 1, 2007 | In Music | No Comments

I’ve been a fan of Death Cab for Cutie’s music since I downloaded an Mp3 back in college (nearly 10 years ago now, wow) off their Web site. The song, which I’m not even sure which it was now, stuck with me. Eventually The Photo Album came out and I picked it up.

Now they’ve gotten all successful and stuff, finally saw them live not too long ago. Anyway, they have this DVD project out with videos from their latest album “Plans.” The DVD called Directions gave various video directors the chance to do small treatments for each track on the album. There are many beautiful ones on there. I want to post a few, I’m going to start with Jealousy Rides with Me. This video is stunning. Enjoy…
