Sweet Land

July 7, 2007 | In Movies & TV, Personal | No Comments

A few years ago I got a unique opportunity. I covered the filming of a movie in a small town in west central Minnesota. It wasn’t a huge budget film, the director was from Minneapolis and the story was based around rural Minnesota following World War I. The movie, then called the Wedding Photo, is called “Sweet Land.”

While on the set I got to meet Ned Beatty briefly and talked with a handful of the local extras that made it into the movie. It was an interesting experience. I followed the post-production, was among the first to see the (nearly) finished product and even wrote about it when it hit the local theater (where it was a big success).

On Tuesday, “Sweet Land” is hitting the local DVD store. I haven’t seen the final theatrical cut that made its way across the country, so I am excited to see how it finally ended up. I encourage you to check it out too.
